The play is based on the life of Goswami Tulsidas. Mahakavi Tulsidas was a ‘rebel’ and ‘progressive’ poet of his time who composed a great work that immensely influenced the society of that time. It was and remains contemporary even today.

The play throws special light on three aspects of the life of the great poet Tulsidas. The poet never accepted any temptation of royalty. He maintained a great distance from the royal court while it was very easy for him to cooperate with the royal power. Another important aspect is that he democratized Ram Katha. He took Ram Katha to the masses. The third important thing he did was that he opened the lock of language on knowledge.

Certainly the role of Tulsidas was very revolutionary in his time.
